Dictionaries describe a chin wag (or chinwag or chin-wag) as a long and informal conversation between friends.
Those who have participated in any of these sporadically held conversations over the past three years in which SAH and SAHB [Society of Automotive Historians in Britain] members have participated know just how fun and informative they can be. They have been known to fall right down into rabbit holes and wander out in the weeds of just about any automotive history topic. As you might imagine, such across multiple time zone live conversations, conducted via ZOOM, present challenges to find days/dates/times convenient for the most. Thus attendance numbers do vary.
These conversations have no agenda, although if someone wishes to inquire about something specific related to automotive history, it could be shared before the actual Chin Wag. If you’ve never attended a Chin Wag or received an invite and think you too would like to socialize via ZOOM (your own schedule permitting once day/date/time has been established—as that varies with each Chin Wag) with fellow transportation historians and history enthusiasts, email the ZOOM-master Bob Barr. The next Chin Wag is scheduled for Sunday, January 25 at 2:30PM EST.
If you don’t already have Bob’s eddress, it is readily found in SAH’s online roster accessible to every member-in-good-standing behind the Members Only wall on SAH’s AutoHistory.org website. And, do please note: while participants are members of one or both SAH and SAHB, these conversations are about shared history interests not about either of the organizations themselves. (hvh w/bb)
