Fifth Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium held Nov. 8-9, 2019

The Fifth Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium on International Motor Racing History was held on Friday and Saturday, November 8 & 9, 2019, in Watkins Glen, NY at the Watkins Glen International Media Center at the track. Continuing the ongoing theme of Symposium series, “The Cultural Turn Meets the First Turn,” the Symposium explored “Writing Motor Sports History.” Some fifty attendees heard a total of fourteen speakers give moderated presentations on a wide variety of motor sports topics. On Saturday afternoon Dr. John Heitmann, of the University of Dayton and author of “The Automobile and American Life,” was the “Writing Motor Sports History” keynote speaker. Dr. Heitmann and several of the presenters concluded the conference by participating in a panel discussion on the same topic, moderated by SAH President Don Capps.
