Begin the automotive history part of your new year on Saturday, January 24, 2026, when SAH’s Leland Chapter will host members and friends for a program on the storied Route 66 presented by longtime Chrysler engineer Bob Feldmaier at the recently opened Pontiac Transportation Museum in Pontiac, Michigan.

Bob and his son drove the entire length of Route 66 from Illinois to California in two segments in recent years and will speak to what the road is today as well as its place in history.

Our former chapter president, ex-Corvette Museum director, and GM Design alum Brian Baker has arranged for the presentation, titled “Route 66 in a ’57 Chevy” on the highway’s centennial year.

This event also includes a tour of the museum, still new to many of us, with its comprehensive collection of Pontiac and Oakland cars and related memorabilia, GM Truck and Bus products, and other Pontiac-area transportation artifacts.
