The annual Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium on International Motor Racing History is co-hosted each November in Watkins Glen, NY by the International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC), the SAH, and Gran Touring Motorsports (GTM). Founded in 2015, the two-day Symposium provides a venue for authors, academic motorsport scholars, enthusiast historians, and students to make presentations on any aspect of motor racing history.
The 2025 Argetsinger Symposium takes place November 21st & 22nd at the Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen. Symposium attendance is free of charge. All 2025 presentation slots are now fully booked, and schedule details for each day will be released in the coming months. GTM will live stream and record all the presentations for post-event viewing as YouTube videos.
Visit the IMRCC website Argetsinger Symposium page for additional information.

The symposium is named in honor of Michael R. Argetsinger (1944-2015), race car driver, author of five books on motorsport, co-founder of the Symposium and founding member of the IMRCC. Michael’s parents, Cameron and Jean Argetsinger, brought Formula One racing to America and founded the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Racecourse, as well as the later Watkins Glen International Racetrack.
The growing interest in the Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium on International Motor Racing History has created a need for two separate events. To expand the opportunities for participation, the IMRRC, the SAH, and GTM are pleased to announce the Virtual Symposium on International Motor Racing History, an on-line platform for recorded presentations on all aspects of motor racing history. Authors, academic motorsport scholars, enthusiast historians, and students are invited to submit presentation abstracts any time throughout each year. YouTube videos of completed presentations will be posted, as they are completed, to the publicly accessible Virtual Symposium page on the IMRRC website. Details are here.
