It’s SAH election time! The Nominating Committee has assembled a slate of four outstanding candidates for the three open director positions. And thanks to the efforts of webmaster Eric Monterastelli, voting can now be conducted online. Biographies of the candidates, as well as voting instructions, can be found at the bottom of this newsletter. The SAH would like to thank Nominating Committee Chair Kevin Kirbitz, with assistance from past chair Bob Barr, for putting this impressive group together. And many thanks go out to SAH directors Mary Seelhorst and John Mohr who are stepping down from the board. Your contributions to the Society of Automotive Historians are very much appreciated.
Eric Monterastelli has been busy reformatting the SAH website. If you haven’t done so already, make sure to check it out. He is also happy to report that the photo vault is now back online for the exclusive use of SAH members. For those unfamiliar with this service, the purpose of the collection is to provide a source of images for SAH members to use in published work and presentations without needing to go through the permission process. With over 7000 photographs available, the SAH photo vault is an important resource for automotive scholars, historians, and enthusiasts alike.
In the transition to digital, adjustments have been made to the SAH membership fees. Beginning October 1, 2026, dues will be $40 for all members. Fees will be adjusted upon renewal. Those who currently have a print membership will receive one more paper issue of the SAH Journal, which will be released later this fall. The upcoming Automotive History Review will be digital only.
For those who have been putting it off until the very last minute, PayPal reservations to the SAH Awards Banquet will be accepted until September 9. I look forward to seeing many of you in Flint on September 19.
