Last issue Chris listed Dale LaFollette as a new member. While it’s good to have SAH #2426 back in the fold, Dale’s not new to SAH and certainly not to the world of automotive history, art, or photography. Dale and your correspondent have been acquainted for more than a few decades.
Dale’s a fine photographer focusing mainly on automotive subjects. He trained in art with his business management; race track management. LaFollette managed Portland (Oregon’s) International Raceway (PIR). Think of the thousands of events he saw and oversaw from IMSA to motocross, drag racing, innumerable road course races of all sorts, police training, and on and on.
Since retiring Dale’s written for Automobilia Magazine and Veloce Today. Some reading this may even be fortunate enough to have a Dale LaFollette cibachrome print in your own collection. (hvh)
With the passing of Joe Malaney (SAH # 2753) at the tag end of 2025 as Kit Foster (SAH #889H) so appropriately eulogized in the last print issue (#333-338) of our Journal, your correspondent (SAH #1137) was tapped by AACA magazine’s editor West Peterson (a lapsed SAH member) to become one of his Antique Automobile magazine’s proof readers.
In that capacity—and as many of you reading these words are also AACA members, recognizing the number articles each issue contains and the vehicle preservation the club so actively encourages and supports—it was noted, while proofing the September/October issue (which will arrive in member mailboxes about two-thirds of the way into September)—an excellent letter to the editor from Bob Elton (SAH #2192).
Chin Wag participants will recognize Elton for he’s always sitting in front of the stunning International Orange in color V-8 Roadster custom he designed and scratch-built. Bob’s letter tells of the 2007 European tour he and Mary enjoyed prompted by their taking delivery of a brand new BMW 335i coupe from the factory. (hvh)
