The International Motor Racing Research Center and the Society of Automotive Historians announce the Tenth Annual Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium on International Motor Racing History at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel, in historic Watkins Glen, New York on Thursday and Friday, November 12 & 13, 2026.
Authors, academic motorsport scholars, enthusiast historians, and students are invited to submit presentation abstracts of 200 words or less on topics relevant to motorsports history, whether from the United States or around the world. Possible subjects include, but are not limited to, the history, evolution, and development of race cars and motorsport technology; personalities, racing events and series; motorsport geography, oral history and historiography; cultural, gender, media, and political histories of motor sport; and archives and museums.
Abstracts – submitted in either Word or PDF documents – should summarize the content of the proposed presentation and may include representative graphic images. The deadline for the abstracts is July 31, 2026. Submissions will be acknowledged upon receipt; the review, selection, and notification will be completed the week of August 3rd. Those accepted will be required to submit a final PowerPoint presentation by October 23, 2026. All images used in a presentation must be properly credited. Final presentations should be 30 minutes long with 15 additional minutes for discussion and questions, for a total of 45 minutes.
Each presentation will be recorded live and then posted as a YouTube video, post-event, in the IMRRC online archives.
