Hello SAH members.
Although winter is a relatively quiet time for the Society of Automotive Historians, as the majority of major SAH events – Hershey, Awards Banquet, Argetsinger Symposium – take place during the fall, the SAH board and various committees are busy planning for the coming year. The new executive committee had its first meeting, and is ready to tackle some of the more urgent issues facing the organization. Discussions are also ongoing for future conferences and SAH events. Updates and announcements will be communicated in upcoming issues of this newsletter.
This issue introduces a new feature – “Auto Expert Help Wanted.” From time to time the SAH receives inquiries from researchers looking for help or advice on a variety of auto-history related subjects. Whether looking to identify an automobile or part, asking for participation in an academic project, or seeking a source for historical automotive materials, researchers look to the SAH for the vast vault of knowledge and experience residing in our membership.
Also, don’t forget that nominations for the Benz, Bradley, Brigham, Cugnot-English, Cugnot-LOE, Friend of Automotive History, and Ingersoll Awards close April 15, 2026. Winners will be recognized at the annual SAH Awards Banquet in Flint, Michigan on September 19, 2026. Submission requirements as well as additional information can be found here. The annual banquet will once more be held at the fabulous Durant-Dort Factory One in Flint, Michigan on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Hotel information will be forthcoming.
