Hello SAH Members:
Happy almost summer. May the next few months be filled with car shows, cruises, and road trips.
I am pleased to announce that the SAH has a new Social Media Chair. Clio Reid is a graduate student in history at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Her interest in motorsports is reflected in her academic research and her hobbies – her master’s thesis focuses on the impact of Gilles Villeneuve on Quebec motorsports culture, and on the weekends she can be found at open-wheel racing events. Clio has vast experience running social media accounts; we look forward to her contribution to the SAH. In other social media news, Eric Monterastelli has created an SAH page on Discord. Be sure to check it out.
This issue of the newsletter also contains the second installment of “Major Sources of Information for Automotive History.” In this three-part series, Mark Vargas provides information on important research resources and offers detailed instructions on how to best access them. This month’s installment focuses on the Internet Archive. Thank you, Mark for sharing your knowledge of these important resources for all of those conducting automotive research.
Thanks to all who have contributed to the newsletter. Remember that everyone is welcome to submit event announcements or reports, news items of interest, reviews of museums or exhibitions, as well as personal achievements such as a new book, published article, or award. Just send your news to Chris Lezotte or Helen Hutchings by June 25 for the July edition.
Thanks to Helen Hutchings, Mark Vargas, and Louis Fourie for their contributions to this issue.
