Four years ago, Alfred Fisher III, and his brother, Michael J. Fisher, of Fisher & Co. and Fisher Dynamics, the latest DNA of the seven Fisher brothers still in the automotive business, hired SAH member Dan Hughes to create a book on the history of the Fisher Brothers and Fisher Body, and the DNA that still resides in the 14th and 15th generation working in the automotive business. No bankers, no wine makers, no railroad owners, just the Fisher line that still is active in the business.
Dan provides this background: the seven brothers were very protective of their family and their business and hired a lawyer to stop any publication of any history of the brothers from being published. That’s why no official book on them has ever been written. The stories and articles one find on the internet are taken from excepts from newspaper articles and gathered info for various books.
Four years later their history has been published: a private published book of 200 copies, 190-page cocktail table book. For Founded on Family – Forged in Faith: A Fisher Family Business, Dan accumulated over 10,000 research items, articles, photos, letters, and excepts from all articles or stories that have been written. Official or not official!
A limited number of books may be available to various museums and historical centers. (cl)
